The basis for this seminar is a research project in which light-weight profiles are developed from hemp bast strips together with a bio-resin by pultrusion and knots are developed by hot-pressing straw fibres. The main component of this seminar is the insight and understanding of the world of alternative building materials and learning how to handle building materials using resource-saving methods. The students will be informed about the alternative materials in the building sector and will gain experience in a concrete project up to a scale of 1:1 to learn how to handle and produce renewable raw materials. The students will learn by doing their own research, experiment and process the materials themselves.
