Sound Waves
This sandwich panel is an acoustic absorber panel, formed of functionally graded perforated plates on the outside layers, made of natural fibre reinforced bioplastics. The perforated plates covers a core with a designed morphology, which creates the needed sound energy distraction and acoustic absorption needed. This design was an outcome of a contribution between architects, acoustic engineers and material developers. The core material is made of the same material as of the surface, so that the whole sandwich panel can be recycled without the need to dismantle the core from the external layers. Depending on the binding bioplastic material, the sandwich panel can also have another end-of-life scenario and can be composted under industrial compost conditions.
