TPChair
TPChair is an exploration of plastic behavior of Thermoplastic Polymers and an attempt to achieve stiffness through moldless thermoforming of thin its sheets. By using a simple fabrication setup within the constraints of the vacuum forming machine, where plastic sheets are heated to a forming temperature, and wooden rods serve as a ‘mold’ and push the material up and create a double curved surface, it was possible to create load bearing thermoplastic geometries.
This adjustable setup of wooden rods where the tips can be replaced, together with the moving platform of the vacuum forming machine, allowed for creating forms of different heights and legs configuration.
